Alright. Merely out of annoyance of the goings on within this thread I have
decided to respond.

First off, I think a forum would be useful merely for archiving reasons. I can
honestly say I have no idea what is available for forums and options they can
have. But, a forum which could potentially have the capabilities of a search
engine, and the possibility for someone to respond to a thread and then have
the response sent to both the forum and the mailing list at the same time
would be beneficial. IMO.

I personally, do not use forums anymore. I have found them slow, and the ones
I have used haven't been very good at blocking spam. I PERSONALLY prefer
email, but that is JUST ME. I cannot speak for anyone else, and neither
should anyone else.

Although, if I were wanting to search for a thread of some sort I would
probably use it for that purpose. Something I have no interest in now, may
just very well become of interest to me a year from now. Therefore, I feel
archives/forums in that sense can be very useful.

I do not think it is fair to criticize an idea. If one person thinks it may be
useful, then there is probably others out there that would feel the same way.
Now to say.. due to the general responses from the list, having a forum is a
bad idea is just silly. Only time will tell how well the forum really does,
and it may even be surprising to some what the results may be.

If someone is willing to put the forum together, then that is amazing. And
thank you to whoever wishes to contribute such things to CLUG.

I didn't respond earlier to this thread because I felt all the issues about a
forum had already come up, and there is no point in flooding the list with
thoughts and opinions already shared.

Replacing one with the other is pure silliness as well. Why? Because there is
obviously alot of people using the list, and to force people to do something
else would more likely then not create alot of readers to lose interest
merely due to time restraints. Besides, whose to say everyone uses graphical
based applications?!

Options & Choices is the key!

So therefore, create a forum. If there's people who don't want to use it, then
don't use it. Plain and Simple!!!! There's no need to go telling others that
because you wont use it, it should not exist. That is just unfair to those
who just might find it useful after all and may or may not be currently
present on this list. ie. future members

Alright, now that I have got that out of my system. Good evening!

Regards,
Mahlah Hansen
