the easiest way is to pick which env you want at the graphical login screen (xdm, kdm, gdm.. whichever one you use.. probably gdm given that it's Red Hat). KDE should appear in the desktop choices, which is available from a menu at the bottom of the screen in GDM IIRC? if you start X from console (e.g. runlevel 3) then use the startkde script in conjunction with ~/.xinitrc - -- Aaron J.
