2 concerns on a serious note... Some airports use x-ray scanners, I dont know if thats an issue or not.
Carrying it on might not be allowed, if you have to put it in your bag it might get tossed around. As for altitude, the cabin is pressurized and temperature regulated, not too sure if the same can be said for the cargo hold though... If they allow it, Id definately carry it on, then youve got no worries...
