Hi All,
Altitude has/will have no effect on a hard drive at all.
All hard drives are vented to the atmosphere and as such pressure
changes have no effect.
I carry drives with me all the time.
I'll place it in a anti-static bag and then into a Zip-Loc bag as an
extra precaution.
As mentioned previously by someone else.. I've never had a problem with
security checks. A swab and at worst a explanation to someone that
recognizes just what the things really are and I was on my way!!
Seagate drives hold the highest desktop non operating shock spec in the
industry - 350 Gs at 2 milliseconds for U8 drives and 300 Gs for 7200
RPM Barracuda ATA drives. All drive use various methods to prevent disk
slap and slippage. I've pulled hard drives out of systems that have been
in vehicle accidents where the vehicle and indeed in a couple of cases
the PC case has been totaled and the drives have always worked.
