The package libxcursor-devel is giving the error if I remember correctly, it throws an error when attempting to install it. It was caused by running the "apt-get upgrade" command so I have no idea which package requires it to be installed due to dependency. The issue is that I run "apt-get -f install" and it attempts to install libxcursor-devel and fails again and when I attempt to install anything else the dependency is not satisfied. I figured that if I remove the reason why the package wants to be installed then I can add some better sources for apt-get.

What exactly is the error message your getting? Usually when apt messes itself up like that, I take a look at what version it's looking for. Then either uninstall the package if you don't need it, or find the correct version of the .deb package on the Internet and install it manually. Once apt is satisfied, it won't give you errors anymore. I know there is a list of apt sources somewhere, but I don't remember the web site. I would check out debian.org but I would also take a look in your /etc/apt/sources.list file as knoppix comes with lots of sources by default, although many of the will probably be commented out.
