corporations were not developed by them.

hmm...what happens when i code a program in c and ms "owns" the patent
for the language? Do i have to use ms owned tools and compilers? what
if they dont want to write them for the platform i want to develop on?

So then we'll have to call ourselves CGNU/LUG? or CGLUG? 
IMHO linux is synonymous with the GNU project and free software, why
change our name to accomodate a rather small point?
