Hi, I'm looking at getting myself a new machine and was wondering what the impact of getting a 64 bit processor was compared to getting a 32 bit, from a software compatibility standpoint.
Can I still run in 32 bit mode on a 64 bit cpu - ie. standard kernel compile, etc? If going the 64 bit route, will I experience any compatibility issues with software applications? Do the applications have to be written / modified to run under 64 bit mode?
