As 'InkBoard' uses a Jaber server, you might be better using Gimzo project if you need VoIP as it's chat is Jabber based also. Gaim is also cool and support on both Linux and Windows, though doesn't do Voice (well there was a fork.... but don't go there). The Text chat in Ekiga is SIP messaging (and is a bit simple in formating). Some conference servers support SIP text conference (ie. all users see messages), but I don't think Asterisk does....
