If this is a 64bit install then you should check that vuescan is compatible with a 64bit environment. There are a lot of things that still do not work with a native 64bit OS. ~ Most of the broken apps are not surprisingly from the proprietary software world. If you need wine to get some applications to work you are probably better off in the 32bit side of the pool.
