After 2.6.15 Linux kernel no longer has generic SATA support. This requires that you use an initrd that contains a module for your SATA controller. Thats fine until you upgrade your motherboard.
I upgraded my motherboard in my Mandriva 2k8 and now it will not boot. I have tried the rescue option on the CD but it has no feature to rebuild the initrd. How to I... 1) figure out what module I need to load 2) rebuild a Mandriva 2k8 initrd file Mandriva uses gziped CPIO for it's initrd and I could manually hack it but I still need to know what module to use. I tried to use mkinitrd and just as it has for many years now it created a useless initrd file. -- http://www.Radados.org
