Originally the 1600 was a no-go with MythTV, but that seems to be fixed. http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Hauppauge_HVR-1600 Note: it does not claim to support QAM, which is needed for Digital Cable reception (or snooping or your neighbour's internet traffic, but that's a different topic).
