I noticed that there is no blacklist.conf file but that there is an
alsa-base-blacklist file and a blacklist file.

In the blacklist file there is a line as follows:
blacklist usbmouse

and I was wondering how come my usb optical mouse still works.

I looked at the alsa-base-blacklist file and it looks as follows:

# Uncomment these entries in order to blacklist unwanted modem drivers
# blacklist snd-atixp-modem
# blacklist snd-intel8x0m
# blacklist snd-via82xx-modem

So It looks like I do not want to touch alsa-base-blacklist file.

I would like to see comments and evaluations of my observations before I
add

blacklist psmouse

to the blacklist file.
