i can see. but when we do that, we also work on clutter-0.8. the window system is directfb, but you know, without x, you can use eglnative backend, but at that time, only one stage exists, (that stage is full screen) so if you want to support mulitple stage, and arbitrary size stage, you need to implement such back-ends for directfb window systems. the work load is not big.
