Sorry. I forgot that there is no sense in this. I forgot my
medication.

Michelle, Michelle, Michelle...
Are you trying to make SENSE out of this
process? Please refer to the discussion of nurses on benzos and
take the appropriate medication so that you can cope with this.

I know that we are to divide by seven even if it wasn't for the entire
7 day period. What I don't know is why? What is the
rationale for dividing by 7 if they only received it for 3 days? How
can dividing by 7 give you average dly intake of IV fluids if you only
received it for 3 days? Does anyone out there know why and what the
rationale is? Thanks.

Read the RAI manual p 3-156, bottom paragraph. It
does say to divide by 7. You are to calculate over the last 7 days
even if the resident did not receive fluids IV on all 7 days.
lYou are to add up all the daily totals or the weekly total (in
this case 3 days). You are to "Divide the week's total fluid intake by 7.
This will give you the average of fluid intake per day.".

Why would you divide by 7,when they only received it over
3? Would it not be over the 3 days that they received the
parenteral or tube feedings? The manual just states over the
last 7 days. It does not say to divide by 7.
