I just read an article in one of the PPS magazines written by Stephen [I forget his
last name]who works for a company from Massachusetts but he speaks at national
forums. He is well versed in the MDS.He spoke about approx. 100 homes around the
country who don't do all these extra assessments but use the MDS as their tool.I
thought it was so interesting that he gave me the name of one of these homes. My DON
will get in touch with them I hope.I have long thought that we are doing too much
paper work.At our facility we do all these admission, and quarterly assessments, that
are really a duplication of the MDS.Are you all doing multiple assessments in addition
to the MDS.WE DO ON ADMIT AN ORAL,FALL,SKIN,DEHYDRATION,SIDERAIL,PAIN,BOWEL AND
BLADDER.I think we could write our assessment policies based on answers in the MDS and
a few other factors.
