We don’t feed but we do take turns along with the other nursing supervisors/administrative staff supervising the dining rooms at all meals. It takes around 15 minutes.  I think we all have fed someone on occasion but not as a routine. Basically we make sure all goes at it should.  I do 2 lunches and 1 breakfast a week.  I must admit that we all moan and groan a lot about it but find that many of our dining/intake issues are resolved with improved supervision.  I also find that it does give me an opportunity to observe residents and gain insight r/t a broad range of items on the MDS.

Subject: MDS Co. feeding residents!

Budget time and our Administrator has come up with a dilly! All MDS Coordinators are to feed residents at  mealtimes. Anyone else doing this? Someone must be because he says he has seen it at many facilities! I guess this will be a perfect time to do our assessments! ACorn
