Show them the MDS manual and I would take it to the "powers that be."
You may also suggest the sections that explain about signing for
accuracy and explain that they may not only lose their certification but
can be fined monetarily for inaccurate documentation on the MDS. It is
not an option to follow the ARD, it is mandatory.

Subject: RE: Problem with Activities section

Lately, surveyors have been have been scrutinizing MDS. One time they
found
a behavior on the 30th day that the SW did not capture. I suggest that
when
the facility gets burned, the powers will pay attention.
Maybe a QI initiative might help.

Subject: Problem with Activities section

Rena, or anyone with knowledge about section N:
We are having a hard time with the activities department completing the
MDS
timely. They completely disregard the ARD. The AD said she didn't care
about the ARD, that it
doesn't mean a damn thing to her. They have to do a 30 day assessment.
Now, I know the RAI manual says 7 day look back for all of section N.
She
has the LTC calendar with the ARD of January 26 already completed and is
now
wanting the new (Feb) calendar. As a matter of fact, dietary also works
ahead. If we don't give it to her, she goes to the powers that be and
complains. So we end up giving in. If I can get in writing that she
has to
follow the ARD like every other department, maybe it will do some good.
Thank you in advance!
Suzanne
