Not all Medicaid casemix states are the same. Check with your State medicaid contact to determine if this is acceptable. Some may even have rules that you must do another annual if the RUG has decreased. The answer to this seems to swing both ways depending on who benefits.

NO! NO! NO!. Don't do it. Technically, you can do a comprehensive assessment in lieu of a quarterly, (you can always do more, but not less) but you had better have a good answer as to why you are doing it that way. Accusation of Manipulation of a State Case Mix can
become ugly!!

This question is for case mix states - recently had a consultant say
that it was OK to do annual assessments every 3 months (not sig changes)
instead of quarterlies in order to capture a higher case mix.  Does
anyone actually do this? and what are your thoughts on this?
