I code a mushy, purple or red heel as a stage one, but make sure I have documentation that this heel is looking bad and coulds open at any time. We also put a special boot on these tyes of heels and granulex starts right away. In addition we have our podiatrist in and he documents on the heel. We have had good survey results with this issue r/t using podiatry aggressively.
