The decision on a discharge tracking code is based on several factors, but it is unrelated to facility bedhold policies and unrelated to facility policies regarding when the medical record is closed.

When a resident is admitted to the hospital, the correct discharge tracking code is Return Anticipated - see page 2-24 of the RAI User's Manual.  This is true unless the resident/family or physician tells you that the resident will not be returning.

Hi

A patient was admitted to the facility on 1/21 and transferred to the hospital on 2/6.She was not eligible for bed hold(not in facility 30 days).Would you code have discharge -return not anticipated?

The patient was admitted back to the facility 3/2

Thanks
