Some folks have always done the "bird bath "thing. this is not unusual
dependingon age, culture etc. As long as hygiene needs are being met. There
is no problem.

Try to find out just what his objection to bathing is.....does he get cold,
is he modest, is a "shower" or "bathtub" something he has ever used before,
has he had a bad experience w/ bathing in the past, etc..... If there is no
reason or rhyme to his objection you are on the right trcak w/ the psych
consult.

Does anyone have any suggestions in how to get a resident to take a shower,
bath or just plain wash up. I have a resident who is totally against anytype
of bathing . He becomes very belligerent toward staff. Psych, consult is
ordered. He has no family , only guardianship with family services.
thanks nancy
