We had a resident like this and we provided her with disposable wash
cloths. She kept them in her room and used them at her disgresion and
then we care planned accordingly. Unfortunately there were times that
she did have an odor. It did come about though that she started taking a
whirlpool 2x/wk because she developed painful knees and we told her that the
whirlpool would possibly help her pain!! It worked....the whirlpool
along with biofreeze helps her knee pain and we get her into the tub!!
Does anyone have any
suggestions in how to get a resident to take a shower, bath or just plain
wash up. I have a resident who is totally against anytype of bathing . He
becomes very belligerent toward staff. Psych, consult is ordered. He has no
family , only guardianship with family services.
