Debbie,
I apologize for coming in at the end of this thread but I wanted to remind
you to always refer to the Resident Data Reporting Manual (PA specific) for
information about the UMR team. In chapter 10 - the manual outlines
specific items from the MDS that the UMR team reviews during their visit to
you. In reference to section G, page 10-6 states: "Do not select Activity
did not occur (8) unless this is true during the entire 7-day period. If
the activity occurred once, even at a Total Dependence (4) level, that code
should be selected rather than (8)". If you follow the directions as
outlined in this manual as well as the RAI manual, you will not receive
errors from the UMR team. The current manual (9/17/03) can be downloaded
from the PANAC website (www.paanac.com) - be sure to watch for the release
of the new manual, coming soon, that will include the update on the new
definition of "MA day of care".

Subject: Re: ADL coding question
Thank you everyone. I will code as you all have suggested but I am
frustrated
by the fact that the UMR team will give us errors because they say it has
to
be coded at least three times!!
