That sounds good... I am here way past my regular hours just to try & get some work done (you all know how that is I am sure- I am 9 months pregnant & about to need maternity leave & my RN assistant had surgery this week), and there are RN supervisors in the building... they are both older & more experienced than I & are going to handle it their way... I am just offering advice as I feel I respectfully can, but I am really concerned about this situation (the shot & now they tell me they have put a wanderguard on her chair- which they report has "increased her anxiety")... I am not trying to "armchair quarterback" but I do want to be able to offer them suggestions.  I guess what I am saying is it is probably beyond just talking to her about her desire to leave now.
Oh, but something else about me, it is well known that I will have an opinion because I am very much a resident advocate, as I think most of us in the position are.
  Thank-You all for your advice!

I guess first of all I would try to talk to her to find out just exactly what has happened to cause her sudden desire to leave.  Usually there is something that precipitates it & if you can find out what it is you can usually work it out.  Otherwise I think it would be a good idea to involve both the doctor & the Ombudsman.  In addition, I would make sure to inform her that if she leaves it would be against medical advice & that is something happened because of it, insurance might not cover it.  This sometimes works when nothing else does.

What do you do when a resident is unhappy with a new roommate (but has been unhappy anyway for a long time), and is stating she is leaving?  Her family is here & state they cannot care for her (she is early 60's, right AKA, dialysis, refuses to care for herself at all).... she has said she is calling her lawyer & a cab and she is leaving...  Do we let her go & call DHR or what?  I don't think the MD has been called yet.  I am just here late doing care plans, and the DON has been called back in for this, but we are unsure of what to do.  Is the Ombudsman available now?   Any advice?
