Readmission w/o expected return

Need an answer quick if you please.  If a resident leaves AMA, and  resident returned 10 days later, does the 15 months policy for copying the MDS apply? The other scenario, if the resident is discharged without expected return and is readmitted within a month does the 15 months MDS regulation apply.  I read page 1-27 & 28 of the August 2003 revision but this scenario is not addressed.  Thanks you your response   Susan
