I keep the 15 months worth of MDS’s and care plans in my office as well (We keep the current one on the chart).  My staff has access to my office 24 hours per day so this has never been an issue.  Does your staff has access?  If not, then that is likely why you were sited.  I have never had a problem thus far.

State surveyor just left today and we got cited for keeping residents MDS in my office versus putting them in the charts.   We send the MDS to medical records for filing in the charts after pt. is discharged.  What are your thoughts on this issue?
