This resident was out to the hospital more than 24 hours so a discharge return anticipated would be completed and the PPS schedule started over with the 5 day return/readmission, 14 day, etc.

Page 2-23 of the RAI Manual states: If the observational stay goes beyond 24 hours or if the resident is admitted for acute care, then a Discharge Tracking form must be completed within seven days. The discharge date entered at R4 would be the date that the resident actually left the facility, not the date he was admitted to the hospital.

Just skip the day that they were out of the hospital @ MN when calcuating
days. For instance if they were not in the building @ MN on day 30, day 31
is actually now day 30.

Hello,
A Part A resident is transferred from our facility, spends 36 hours at the
acute hospital, and is NOT admitted. Returns to us. What do I do about the

Thanks
