Sorry it's been a while since my last post. I figured i would fill
everybody in. I went to see a specialist today for the first time,
his name is Dr. David Hurd w/ Wake Forest Baptist Medical center in
Winston-Salem N.C. I learned a lot today, but most importanatly i
guess is the fact that he wants me to proceed with the BMT. Reasons
being that my last fish test revealled that i still had 4% philly's,
and after being on gleevec for over a year he wasnt comfortble with
that result. He said ultimately it was my decision ofcourse, which
i a m ok with. Strangely enough i am not scared at all...should i
be? Dr Hurd says that the cards are in my favor..im 26, healthy and
have a great attitude torwards this. I dont know what to do though,
he mentioned "super gleevec", but i dont want to put much faith in
something else that is not a confired cure. I guess inadvertantly i
have already made up my mind to go through with it, but i also have
to consider my wife and my 3 month old. So with that i dunno im at a
turning point fo sure and i welcome any stories on BMT's that you
have to offer, i know that it is a feirce procedure and not always a
happy eneding, but i have to beleive it will be for me. Give me
guidance please.
thank you
roger
