Hi Lynn, I don't know that I can answer all of your questions but here goes: first, it becomes obvious at high doses of Gleevec (I'm on 800 mg) when the Hgb just gets lower and lower. Without procrit my Hgb once dropped to 5. Normally it would be between 8 and 9 without procrit. I remember a blood test that told them that it was Gleevec related anemia because my iron levels were fine and yet my Hgb was abysmally low.
12.6 is the goal my onc has set for me to reach and then keep me there. He's hoping that then my Procrit shots will have to be less frequent but as long as I'm on 800 mg I'll have to take some procrit. So, your "cruddy" feeling isn't coming from anemia, is my guess.
