Hi Lynn,

You're definitely right that each of us has different reactions to this
disease. It seems to be very individualized in many ways. Treating
yourself well and being nutritionally smart is a good idea.

Actually when they discovered my Hgb was 5 I immediately was put in the
hospital and got two units of blood. It then took months of procrit to get
my counts back up in the 10s.

Raising children requires lots of eneregy so I'm not surprised you tire out!

Good luck. A procrit shot now and then could give you a boost but only if
your insurance covers it. They cost $1500 each.

Take good care.

Hi Susan..

Wow, I can't believe you were even functioning at a Hem of 5! I'm
glad your Procrit has brought you up to a more acceptable level.

I think that it's important to realize that everyone's body is
different, and where one person feels good, another might feel crummy
at that level. I always hover at the low level for Hem and always
low on red counts.

I think I'm just really going to focus on health, and try to get
those levels increased by smarter iron rich food choices, and doing
everything I can to beat this thing. More exercise, and giving myself
more TLC. I've really beat myself up over this CML, because nobody
deserves this. I'm really sick and tired of feeling "sick and
tired".. you know what I mean?

I have two small daughters to raise. My youngest is going into
kindergarten this Fall! It's sad that she has always known me to be
sick. I want nothing more than to hang on and come out of this on
top. If my body falls apart now, it won't last long enough to see
the cure happen. So, I guess it's time to get things in gear. If we
have to live with this disease, I guess my part is to do whatever I
can to make the best of it. I'm looking forward to the day that I
can say,," Remember when I had leukemia?".. can you imagine? Wouldn't
that be awesome?

Keep looking forward. The prize is just around the corner.

Take good care,

Lynn (Snickersunny)
