Dear Dave, I live about 85 miles from Springfield and see Dr. Gary Hoos. I also have been fortunate enough to see Dr. Brian Druker two times since dx. I had four BMB at St. Johns in Springfield and though painful there were no long lasting effect until the fourth one. The doctor (not Dr. Hoos) let the needle slip and damage nerves in my hip and I am still having trouble with that. I had the fifth BMB at OHSU with Dr. Druker. He was smooth as silk. Dr. Druker says that in his opinion they should never be given on a hospital bed but on an examination table. Reason being that exam table will not slip like a hospital bed might. I take 400 Gleevec per day and waiver between PCRU and 0.001 or 0.002. I am 63 and still work but feel like I would do better if I could retire. Who knows? Dr. Druker is very positive about CML just being a chronic disease that we can live with. If you ever get a chance to visit him, take it. He is absolutely wonderful.
