I think that is a missinformation, if there is any resistance event to gleevec the patient pass from chronic phase to accelerate phase or blast crisis but is  the same CML not becomes in AML, because CML and AML are subtypes of leukemia very different, and their causes are different except in some cases.
 
Gleevec is god in chronic phase and in almost cases in acelerated phase.
