Dear Amit, Gleevec can lower counts in some patients but it is unusual for HGB to go so low. Is he taking transfusion? Which hospital is he going to and do the doctors there treat a lot of CML patients? Is your Dad being treated in India?
I have seen two patients having this low HGB and both had gastrointestinal bleeding, not on Gleevec but on the BMS drug. Has the doctor stopped Gleevec until counts recover? Let me know which doctor and hospital your Dad is going to? And was he diagnosed with chronic phase CML?
