So far you have some good news (your FISH is negative, and cytogenics
are down, so those say you are improving). You also have some
questionable news (someone says they suspect another abnormality, but
is it really based on your test results or just speculation?). I would
wait to see what the 25th brings, since it is not far away. A second
abnormality occurs sometimes, but is not the worst possible news you
could have. In the meantime, arm yourself with some questions for your
doctors, such as the following (others might also help here):
1) What tests show evidence of another chromosomal abnormality?
Exactly what were the results? Ask for a copy of the actual report.
2) Was the FISH done on your blood or on your marrow fluid?
3) What else do the docs propose to do to confirm a possible second
chromosome abnormality? If they already know, what are your options?
Is it an abnormality that Sprycel can handle? If not, is there a
clinical trial for it?
4) Why are you considered such a high risk for a BMT? Not your age.
Beyond the normal risks, which are significant, what is different about
your condition, if anything?

It is not easy to wait and see, but it is only a couple weeks. You say
you have a specialist at Emory, so that is encouraging. After the next
visit you can re-assess your options and make an appointment with a
major center if required. Remember, your tests seem to indicate
improvement.
