Hi Greenie, I have had a similar experience. My blood pressure is a little high in the dr's office but when I go home and check it, it is good. I have tried to explain this to him, but the last time I went, he wanted me to take Toporol XL, and I got the prescription, but haven't taken it as of yet. I want to talk to my onc before I take it. I ask my PCD if this would be ok with Gleevec, and he said it would be fine. Now, he doesn't know anything about Gleevec, so how would he know this. Had my stress test and passed but the Doctor put me on Atenolol 50 mg. My blood pressure is on the high side. After reading the info sheet that comes with the drug from Walgreen's they have a list of things that can happen a mile long. Scares the heck out of you. I called the Doctor put he won't be in until Monday afternoon. I'm not taking it until I talk to him. I told him I was on Gleevec, he never heard of it. And he's head of Cardiology. Has anyone else been on the drug and have you had any bad side effects? I hate taking new any like of new drugs.
