Hi Suzzie: I wasn't working at the time I got the CML, but couldn't have worked anyway. I was retired already. I was started on Interferon and it made me so sick that for 3 days a week, I was in bed. Usually by Thurs. I was okay, but then they didn't give me the shots on the weekend, so at the beginning of the week I was sick and ran fevers, etc. I was put on the Gleevec when it came out, and that had it's own set of problems. I must say that I felt better but had diarrhea so bad that it put me into the hospital several times. They finally gave me medication for that, and sometimes it worked, and other times it didn't. I also had to watch the foods that I ate as it seemed to trigger that problem. Now, I'm on Tasigna and doing okay. I do have muscle problems, but the other side effects are mild in comparison to Gleevec. It is made by the same company and there are some serious side effects that could occur, but so far, so good. I still couldn't work on this one either. Part of that is because I'm old, 69, and have lots of other medical problems :>)..Take care and, hopefully, you can handle the Gleevec as it does take care of the CML for most people.
