Suzzie, I haven't quit working, but I was laid off from my job at IBM on June 16, 2008. I worked from home which made it easier for me to work full- time. I take Gleevec 600mg/daily. It is controlling the CML, but I have all the side effects. I've been on it for 4 years now. I am currently drawing unemployment and I am working part-time, but it's hard because I am doing a very physical job now and I can't do it from home. I don't sleep well because of the diarrhea, nausea, and the muscle cramps.
People do not understand. I look healthy. I haven't lost any weight. People think if you have "cancer" you should look like a holocaust victim. I understand how frustrating it can be.
