Dan,

You are entirely right about the original patent issueing date, the
expiration date, and the length of the extension term. I was merely
referring to the approval of the patent extension term, of which I was
under the impression that there was uncertainty about.

If you go to the website http://portal.uspto.gov/external/portal/pair
(you need to enter a verification code first), you can select "patent
number" and search for the patent number 5521184. You will find the
details of the Gleevec patent. Under the "Transaction history" tab on
that page, you'll see all of the patent's transaction history. On top
of that list you'll see that on Jan. 16, 2004, the patent term
extension certificate has been issued. Under the tab "Image file
wrapper" you'll be able to find PDF files of the original patent
documents, and the patent term extension certificate as well.

Since this patent is relevant to many of us CML patients in the United
States, Europe, and other parts of the world, I wanted to clarify.
