Hi Daniel,
I have had cml for 5 1/2 years. For the last 2 years my PCR test results
have been mainly cml undectable but every once is a while there will be a
result that states traces are found. My ono said this is the nature of the
beast and he is not real concerned that this just happens. To me it says
yes the cml is undectable but it is just under the surface. That is why I
would never fool around with my meds and the dosage perscribed by the dr.
My ono says why mess with it when we are having such exciting responses. I
tend to agree with him, but everyone is different.
Best of luck
Carolyn
dx 11-05
on Sprycel 20mg bid. (Very low dose because of my body reaction to higher
dosage. I works for me)

Subject: [CMLHope] pcr count increased last visit
hi all,
i have had cml for about 3.5 years, and was originally on gleevec, but
transferred to tasigna about a year ago due to fatigue issues with
gleevec. i obtained ccr in the first year and since then my pcr has
been stable, between a 2 and 3 log reduction. in the my previous
quarterly visit my pcr had dropped to 3 log reduction for the first
time (good news). but at my most recent visit it is back up to around
the level it has been around for the past 2 years (bad news). my dr
and i are concerned to see such an increase and i have a follow-up pcr
in 5 weeks to see if it is still rising.
my question is have other experienced similar increases? is it common
to experience temporary fluctuation or does such a change usually
indicate loss of response? obviously, i am very concerned and going to
follow up regardless, but would be good to get a sense of others'
experiences.
thanks,
daniel
