Hi Norm and all and sure do enjoy hearing from you. I've missed our Tasigna
group but hope everyone has found this group as it is a wonderful comfort time
and all.
I'm so sorry about your friend and am happy to hear you have another one to
enjoy.
Thank you so much for giving us your story about your journey down this long
road with leukemia. If our group would like we can all give our story and
refresh everyone's mind on our journeys
In 2004 I had made a flight to see my daughter in Ohio. I had gotten sick
while with my daughter and thought it was something I had eaten. As my habit I
was taking my usual walk around the house but felt like I couldn't put one foot
in front of the other-- I was so tired. My son told me to go get s checkup. I
never went to the doctor unless I had a strep throat or ect but I decided I
would go. My pcd has a blood draw area and he took my blood. Next day he
calls and tells me I have to go to a oncologist right away and had already made
the appointment. It seems my platelets and wbc were very high.
This oncologist also had a blood draw area too and within a while he had the
results.
He told me he had bad news and good news. The bad news was that I had leukemia
but the good news was that they had something to treat it with, Gleevec.
He put me in the hospital and started blood cleansing plus all these pills that
I didn't know a thing about. They inserted tubing in my neck vein and would
hook it up to a big machine then my blood would run through the machine and
back into my veins with lots of the cells removed.
I couldn't get my Gleevec right away due to the high cost and was sent home
with Hydrea and other pills to take while waiting on Gleevec.
More later
About the cruises Norm my daughter and I are taking a Christmas cruise if my
health is ok. Have you been on any lately?
Good to hear about your son
Blessings
Are you still on Tasigna and how much do you take?
