While I think it is good to point out potential conflicts of interest, I really don't see it here.

Just because he has previous experience and support for a product he is providing a seminar that must mean he is biased. (even though he also examines other products). Maybe it just means he was already dubious of spending unnecessary amounts of money on a solution that will be outdated before the 'return' is made on the investment, and thus focused on CommonSpot and other even more affordable solutions? I am not positive, but I am pretty sure Steve has been involved in 'million dollar' solutions in the past. I have seen his posts and product over the years (on other lists and conferences) and he is no slouch. Perhaps he provides other seminars for other markets? This whole point is really moot though.

As Steve said, Enterprise solutions may have their place but for the majority of installations it makes no sense. Effective and lesser cost solutions should be examined. I don't see why that is a problem, especially when he already established that fact. I could only be so lucky that Steve would add my product to the mix someday. The number of people who are looking for the low cost to middle tier solutions greatly outnumbers those involved in enterprise solutions. Good business sense suggests he cater to the need.

Based on the number of posts for low cost/free CMS products I expect that a seminar focused on that market would be in order as well. But would anyone pay? hmmm

I'm sure that you are "dubious" about enterprise level or what you call "million dollar" solutions because of the fact that you and your organization are a known partner/reseller of Paperthin's CommonSpot.

Beware all, this will be a seminar that will reiterate that relationship!!
