When I replaced the furling headsail on my 30mk1 a few years ago, Brad at Doyle Sails in Halifax recommended using 3/8 Bora from Stright-MacKay for a halyard. I'm happy with it.
I just pulled the old wire/rope main halyard out of the mast this fall and ordered a new rope halyard from Cajun Ropes in Yarmouth. I haven't tried it yet but I'm impressed by their service and by the size of the shackle. Derek Kennedy SV Tortuga, 1979 30 Mk1, #553 Ballantynes Cove, NS
