Many years ago, one of my halyards got stuck. When I went up the mast, I
discovered that my instrument wiring got pulled into a sheave and jammed. I
was able to pull the halyard and wiring back and relieve the jammed
halyard. The wiring got messed up, and I had to cut and rewire the
instrument wires. (Picture me at the top of the mast - stripping, soldering
and heat shrinking each individual wire.) If I hadn't tried to force the
halyard free, I probably wouldn't have messed up the wiring.
