Our overnight temperatures went from high 30s to below 30 with this latest
front, I had to turn the cabin heat on. It looks like below freezing weather
has spread south of where it usually goes this time of year. I am floating in
warmer than air water, so the boat probably is fine anyway, but one year I
thought that and the accumulator tank fitting for the fresh water froze and
split.
PSA – when walking on the docks in freezing weather, take a look at where you
can climb out. If you are swimming in freezing water wearing winter clothes,
you likely don’t have the spare time to swim around the marina looking for a
ladder. You need to already know where you are headed. My marina is sadly
lacking in ladders and the ones they do have are so short they only would work
at high tide. My destination is a nearby boat with a swim platform. Not that I
fall off the dock routinely, but it would not be funny when the water gets down
to the 30s.
