We have plenty of canvas shops. They tend to be VERY expensive and VERY backed
up, as in we will get to you in half a year maybe.
We did have issues with Genco. They said they saw a C&C 35 near their office
they could measure, but it was maybe a MK II or III and NOT identical to my
boat. Their first try did not fit. In general it put me off ever doing canvas
work by remote control again, but last I checked with Genco some years ago it
sounded routine for them to redo the cloth part, they probably save all their
patterns plus they had the old one too.
(slight digression, we had a guy in my marina with a canvas truck setup that
would resew and patch dodgers for reasonable rates. My son was a dock boy back
then and the canvas guy was going to teach him the trade, but then he retired
and went to Florida)

That's what I think as well. Boat upholstery & canvas seems to be one of those
businesses that they are always busy. They'll give you a date, and then always
be late, like kind of like the shoe repairman. Having said that, it would seem
like there's got to be some good people around the Chesapeake, there is so much
boating there

Don't know if it's USA Joe. I live in Northwest Ontario and they didn't want my
business either. They don't have boat to measure, too much shipping back and
forth to get the final product right, unhappy customers and no end of business
right in their own backyard

GENCO in Toronto made my dodger many years ago. It is getting near end-of-life
and a few years ago they quoted me a reasonable price to make a new one. I
called them recently and they said they no longer will deal with American
customers :(
Does anyone know if they flat out don’t like us (for reasons……..) or just don’t
want to hassle with shipping and tariffs? It would be a long day in the car,
but I don’t mind just driving to Toronto to drop the old one off and get the
new one.
