This still looks like a useful feature request rather than a bug, and I
agree the value is real: users often need a safe way to inspect source output,
transform output, and sink-side generated DDL before sending data to the real
target.

Since the previous assignee has stepped back and there has not been
implementation progress for a while, I think the right next step is to reopen
this for a new contributor with a deliberately small v1 scope:
   1. a runtime debug mode with an explicit row limit
   2. source / transform preview output
   3. sink-side generated table / DDL preview where the sink supports it
   4. a strict rule that debug mode must not mutate external systems

That keeps the first implementation reviewable and avoids coupling the
initial delivery to Web UI work. If someone would like to pick this up, a
narrow first PR around CLI/runtime behavior would be a good start, and any
visual page integration can follow later as a separate enhancement.
