I don't really agree with the approach this patch is taking regarding
getCanonicalServiceName and the fact that some of the changes should have
rather been handled in separate jiras. But I will not block it.
Given the size of the patch and some of the fundamental changes the patch is
doing, I will recommend another committer takes a brief a look at the patch
before committing.
