I'm sure this has been answered many times before, but I have no idea where to start looking for those answers, so: what the hell? Why? What political reality is stopping you? I take it you don't mean governments worried about people hacking the GSM bands, you mean a -cultural- issue in the hardware world? What's stopping you from just not playing along?
