fwiw, Berkeley surveys (from the ancient past, i.e. 2005) show the same. Higher percentages of students in Berkeley classes wanted fast playback speed than the general public (presumably because more of the students taking classes are using webcasts for review; general public is watching for first time and not being tested on material).
