Ruben,
How do I configure a workflow to have two RSS feed addresses - one for
the presentation and another for the presenter - so I can put each feed
in a separate tab in my iTunesU class?
And, if I decide to merge them into a single composition? Can
Matterhorn do that or do I need an additional software or recording
device?
Thanks so much for your input,
Stephanie

Stephanie,
You can see both videos "side by side" in the Matterhorn player because
it is specifically designed to play to videos simultaneously. I mean,
what you are seeing is not a composition with the videos from the camera
and the slides, but two actual videos played in sync.Â
Even though you publish both videos in iTunes or you send them to
Youtube, you'll only be able to play one at a time, because neither
Youtube player nor Quicktime/iTunes are designed to play two separate
videos at the same time.Â
The only way to accomplish that is to merge both videos in a single
composition. Then you will have the two streams, side-by-side (or
picture-in-picture, or as you prefer) in the same single video, which
you can watch in any ordinary, single-video player. However you will not
be able to change the layout of the video composed in that way, while
the Matterhorn player can move the two videos around in different
positions, at any time.
In Teltek, we have developed a "sidebyside" tool that does that
side-by-side composition, and it also adds an short intro presentation
and branding (like a "logo bug" in a corner of the image). You can see
some examples in http://www.youtube.com/user/CampusdoMar .Â
We have started the work to implement such operation in Matterhorn,
too, and we are hoping to be able to offer a working prototype by the
1.5 release.

Thanks for the info. It least I know I'm looking for something that
actually exists.
Â
When viewing a recording in Engage, the presenter & presentation
streams/files are viewed side-by-side. I guess I need a little more
information or details about how to configure a customized RSS feed for
my series to "... place both video files on the same feed..."Â Right
now, when viewed from iTunes I can only get one or the other, so I only
record one or the other.

Hi Stephanie,
FYI, the workflows that are in MH re: iTunes and YT distribution
basically will produce two video files (one for the video/presenter
file
and one for the screen capture/presentation) and...
for iTunes - there are customized RSS feeds for each series/category -
so you can place both video files on the same feed (I think this is
what
we are doing) or place them on separate feeds (or in multiple feeds)
for YT - do you mean "playlists"? I do not think there are "feeds" for
YouTube
In any case, either Sergio Feria or John King can answer this question
better than me as they are the developers working on the MH code @ UC
Berkeley, so I have included them in this email.
